LootHelper field guide

From drop to decision.

Set up your Discord server and run every loot method with confidence. Start with a forum and a template; the template tells LootHelper what happens when you post an item.

The key idea: /loot post does not choose a loot method by itself. The template field selects a template whose method is Priority Roll, DKP, SK, Loot Council, or Soft Reserve. Leave the field empty to use your server's default template.

Start here

Set up your server

Invite LootHelper. Add the bot to Discord → It needs View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, Read Message History, Create Public Threads, and Send Messages in Threads.
Create a Forum channel. In your Discord server, make a channel with the Forum type, such as #loot-drops. Give the LootHelper role access. A standard text channel cannot be used for loot.
Run /setup. A member with Manage Server permission selects loot_channel, game mode, timezone, and optional administrator, manager, and council roles. Choose Any MMO to enter item names manually. A server's game mode cannot change after setup.
Check the result. Use /settings show. Setup creates a Main Raid Priority Roll template and makes it the default. New servers receive a 14-day trial.

Already used a text channel? Run /settings channel loot_channel: #loot-drops to switch to a forum. If posting reports a missing permission, update the bot role in that forum or use the current install link again.

First loot event

Post your first item

The Main Raid template is Priority Roll, so you can post immediately after setup. Enter an item name and optionally an image upload, HTTPS image_url, notes, and a deadline. Each item opens a separate post in the loot forum.

Choose template from autocomplete or paste its ID from /template list. The post shows details and buttons for the selected method. Members click Roll, Bid, Request, or Claim. A manager can run /loot close id: ..., or the worker closes a timed post when due.

No timer required

Templates have no deadline by default. Leave a post open until a manager runs /loot close, or set a duration on the template or post.

Image and item details

Use image for an upload, image_url for an HTTPS image, and notes for context. New item names are saved to this guild's catalog.

Game data

Find Throne and Liberty gear by name

Choose Throne and Liberty in /setup. When a manager types at least two characters in /loot post item, LootHelper searches the Questlog.gg gear database. Choose the exact result from Discord's suggestions. The forum post then gets the item's name, icon, grade, slot, level, passive description when available, and a link to its full Questlog page. Your guild's item record keeps the source ID and gear details.

Different gear can share a name, so choose the right result in autocomplete for both loot posts and Soft Reserves. A typed name with one exact match can also fill details automatically. If Questlog is unavailable, you can still type an item name and provide image or image_url manually. Existing saved gear stays available. The item source is independent of the loot method: choose a Priority Roll, DKP, SK, Council, or Reserve template when posting.

Questlog.gg is an independent third-party database. LootHelper links to the source and refreshes its equipment catalog periodically; its availability and data can change.

Method playbooks

These examples show commands in the order you run them. Template creation requires a server administrator; posting loot requires a manager. Member actions happen on the forum post.

01 · Priority Roll

Categories first, random roll second.

Setup creates a usable Main Raid template. To use different categories, create another PRIORITY_ROLL template, then add or change categories with /template option. Give each category a numeric priority and optional required role. Members see names ordered highest to lowest; only managers can inspect the numbers. Rolls are generated when the event closes.

Before posting: use the starter template or create one with categories.

Members: click Roll and select a category; they can change it while open.

Resolution: category priority goes first, then the roll within that category.

02 · Dragon Kill Points

Choose bidding or a fixed cost.

Members need DKP balances before they can bid or request a fixed-cost item. A manager uses /dkp award to grant points. An administrator creates a DKP_OPEN template for bidding or a DKP_FIXED template for a fixed price. A fixed-cost post must include a positive cost.

Before posting: award points and create the DKP template.

Members: click Bid for open DKP, or Request for fixed DKP.

Resolution: an eligible winner pays DKP when awarded.

For open bidding, sealed_bids hides amounts until close. The minimum bid and increment control bids. Use /dkp balance and /dkp history to review the ledger.

03 · Suicide Kings

Build the list before the template.

Create a ranking list, add members in order, then give its ID to a SUICIDE_KINGS template via list_id. The template requires a valid list. Members request the item; the highest eligible member on the list wins and moves to the bottom.

Before posting: create and populate a list, then create the SK template.

Members: click Request on the item's forum post.

Resolution: the list decides the winner and records the move to bottom.

Use /sk show to see the order and /sk history to see movement.

04 · Loot Council

Collect requests, then vote.

Configure a council role or individual council member with /settings council. Create a LOOT_COUNCIL template, post the item, and let members request it. Council members use the Council Vote button to select a candidate or abstain. Set public_votes to show counts while open.

Before posting: configure council access and make the template.

Members: click Request; council members click Council Vote.

Resolution: votes decide; tied events can be reopened or manually awarded with a reason.

Set manual_confirmation if a manager should confirm the council proposal.

05 · Soft Reserve

Reserve before the drop.

A manager creates a reserve session. Members reserve item names with /reserve add. The manager can lock the session with /reserve close. Create a SOFT_RESERVE template, then post the matching item with both its template ID and reserve_session ID. Eligible reservers click Claim when confirmation is enabled.

Before posting: create a session and collect item reserves.

Members: reserve beforehand, then click Claim on the post when required.

Resolution: eligible reserves decide; an optional fallback template reopens the same post.

For fallback, set fallback_id on the Soft Reserve template to a non-reserve template ID. The session can be open or locked when loot is posted.

Commands and how they connect

Use /template list, /sk list, and /reserve list to find IDs returned by creation commands. Discord autocomplete helps with item and template fields.

Setup and templates

`/setup`	Manage Server users choose the forum, game mode, timezone, and optional roles. Creates Main Raid Priority Roll as default.
`/settings show`	Shows current server configuration.
`/settings channel`	Changes the loot destination to another Forum channel.
`/settings roles` / `timezone` / `council`	Update management roles, guild time, or council voters. Council access is needed before Council Vote.
`/template create`	Administrators create a method-specific template. SK needs `list_id`; Soft Reserve may use `fallback_id`; DKP Open can set minimum and increment.
`/template list` / `show`	Find IDs and review settings. `show` includes internal roll priorities and is manager-only.
`/template option`	Configure Priority Roll category name, priority, range, emoji, enabled state, or required role.
`/template default`	Sets the method used when `/loot post` omits `template`.
`/template edit` / `clone` / `delete`	Adjust defaults, copy rules, or remove an unused template.

Posting and resolving loot

`/loot post`	Managers provide `item` and optional `template`, image, notes, quantity, and deadline. Fixed DKP needs `cost`; Soft Reserve needs `reserve_session`.
`/loot close`	Manually resolves an open post. If no deadline is set, this is how it finishes.
`/loot expiration`	View, set, extend, or remove a deadline on an open event. Dates use the guild timezone.
`/loot inspect` / `history`	Review current state or past results. History can be filtered and exported as CSV.
`/loot award` / `reopen` / `cancel`	Manually award eligible unresolved events with a reason, reopen unresolved loot, or cancel an open post. Manual award does not settle DKP or SK.

DKP, SK, reserves, and other tools

`/dkp award` / `adjust`	Managers grant or adjust balances before DKP loot. Members can check `/dkp balance`; managers can review history, leaderboard, decay, and reversals.
`/sk create` / `add`	Create and populate the ranking list before making an SK template. `/sk show`, `move`, `remove`, `reset`, and `history` manage it.
`/reserve create` / `add`	Create a session, then members reserve items before a Soft Reserve post. Use `close` to lock, `show` to inspect, and `open` to reopen.
`/subscription status` / `upgrade` / `manage`	Check trial or paid access, start checkout, or open the billing portal.
`/character`	Optional character records with add, list, edit, and remove.
`/audit recent` / `/privacy delete-me`	Administrators review changes; members can request erasure of their records.

Common fixes

If a command isn't working

“Choose a loot forum”

Create a Forum channel and run /setup or /settings channel. A text channel is rejected.

Can't post DKP or SK loot

Create the method's template first. DKP Fixed also needs cost; SK needs a valid list and list_id.

Bot joins but no commands appear

Start the bot process, check its token and application ID, and allow time for Discord's global commands to appear.

Timed loot stays open

Keep the worker process running. Untimed loot needs a manager to use /loot close.

Want to start small? Run /setup, then /loot post without a template. That uses the starter Priority Roll template. Add DKP, SK, Council, or Reserve templates when your guild is ready.
